Academic Background

My education began at North Public School in the small town of Simcoe, Ontario.  I attended this school for the duration of my elementary school education. I had wonderful and supportive teachers who encouraged my love or English and creativity.
I attended Simcoe Composite School in Simcoe, Ontario to complete my OSSD. During my high school career my love of English and history grew. I took every history course I could, and won the grade twelve Canadian History award in my last year of high school. My grade twelve Studies in Literature course enhanced my love of reading and analysis. I always knew that I wanted to pursue a career in teaching, and catered my academic choices in high school to guide me towards my goal.

After graduating from high school on the honour roll, I was accepted to The University of Guelph in the Bachelor of Arts – Honours (History/English) 4-year program where I was offered an entrance scholarship. I chose this university because my mentor and high school swim coach had attended Guelph before me and always spoke fondly of his time there.
My time at The University of Guelph (2006-2010) was an extremely rewarding experience which provided many opportunities, both inside and outside of the classroom. Guelph had an extremely open and welcoming atmosphere and had something to appeal to every interest. Getting involved in the Sign Language Club in my last year is one of my most valued experiences at Guelph. After taking Canadian history in my first two years, I began to focus my studies in history on revolutionary history and on science in Victorian England in my senior years. My studies in literature have been diverse in time period and nationality.

I am currently attending The University of Western Ontario in the Intermediate/Senior Bachelor of Education program. My teachable subjects are history and English. I will complete this program in May of 2013, and plan to take additional qualifications courses in special education in the summer.
