I am the kind of person who loves to be busy, and always had projects on the go. I love to be involved in the school community I am a part of. As a high school students I was very involved in all aspects of school life.
I was a member of the high school swim team all four years and was co-captain in grade twelve. Competitive swimming is a huge passion for me, and I was honoured to represent my high school at OFSAA for swimming in grades nine, ten, and twelve. I was lucky enough to be able to coach the high school swim team during my first teaching placement at Medway High School in Arva, Ontario. I am hoping to get my level one coaching qualification from Swim Ontario in the future.
I was also a member of my high school's rowing, rugby and tug-O-war teams throughout high school. I believe that high school sports are incredibly valuable for youth. Being a part of a team, and learning sportsmanship, hard work, and dedication are important life skills that can be taught through sport. I have my Respect in Sport online qualification, and I hope to be able to be a part of the coaching staff in my future schools.
I was also a member of school committees and councils, and am eager to be a staff advisor in the future. Being a part of a committee, and learning to work together to make decisions and run events teaches valuable lessons in organization and team work.
I have a personal love of both literature and history, and take every opportunity to read on both subjects in my spare time.
